Welcome to the April 2025 issue of Swords & Sorcery Magazine, issue 159. This month I, once again, have a packed issue with four new stories and a review for your reading pleasure.
Work continues on Best of Swords & Sorcery Magazine, Vol. 1. I plan to schedule my crowdfund for the project before the May issue hits, so expect more details then.
“The Cats and the Crimson”, by Rab Foster, tells of a notorious warrior woman who finds an oasis town with a strange secret and many cats. Foster’s work has been published in magazines such as Apheiion, Blood Moon Rising, Whetstone, and previously in Swords & Sorcery Magazine.
In “Edward Fish’s Folly”, by Zachary Olson, a wizard sends his magical creation to eliminate a thief who stole from him. Olson is a freelance writer and composer who lives in Chicago. This is his first appearance in Swords & Sorcery Magazine.
In “Grave of Kings”, by C. W. Stevenson, an assassin turned general journeys to the fabled Grave of Kings to fulfill a friend’s last wish. Stevenson’s work can be found in Cthonic Matter Quarterly and in anthologies. This is his first appearance in Swords & Sorcery Magazine.
In “Kerta Waja’s Shadow” Fendry Satria Tulodo takes you to a cursed village in search of your missing father. Tulodo is a writer from Indonesia. This is his first appearance in Swords & Sorcery Magazine.
Anthony Perconti gives us another fine review, this time of Hurled Headlong Flaming, or, The Bishop’s Tale, by Matt Holder. Perconti’s work has appeared in many previous issues of Swords & Sorcery.
