Welcome to the November 2024 issue of Swords & Sorcery Magazine, issue 154. This month I feature three new stories, and an essay. While you are enjoying them in this season of thanksgiving, take a moment to remember the things that you are thankful for. Here at Swords & Sorcery we’re thankful for you, the readers, who make this endeavor worthwhile, and for the many writers who make Swords & Sorcery possible.
In “The Eighth God”, by Matthew Ilseman, an amoral thief discovers he has something to protect. Ilseman’s work will be familiar to readers of Swords & Sorcery Magazine.
In “In Cast No Shadow”, by Cameron MacLeod, death doesn’t mean a person can rest, or even retire. MacLeod’s work has appeared in In Another Time. This is his first appearance in Swords & Sorcery Magazine.
In “Spear and Talon”, by Eric Williams, a young warrior seeks to steal riding birds to atone for the death of a rival. Williams is a science fiction and fantasy writer from Austin, Texas. This is his first appearance in Swords & Sorcery Magazine.
In “Let This Be The Hour When We Draw Maps Together”, by Jonathan Olfert, we hear about maps included with Sword and Sorcery books and why Olfert hopes to see more of them. Olfert’s fiction has appeared many places including Old Moon Quarterly, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Heroic Fantasy Quarterly, and previously in Swords & Sorcery Magazine.
